The game got off to a quick start and swung from end to end, with both teams creating good chances and the Wildcats killing off a very early penalty. The defences were on top for both sides with neither team really taking charge until with nine minutes on the board Lukas Smital broke the deadlock after some good work from Kamil Tvrdek and Jan Bendik.©calyx_Pictures_swindon Wildcats v Bracknell 12-10-13_1118

The teams continued to exchange chances with the netminders standing firm, Lyle denying a Smital breakaway and Foord effort. Annetts seeing off shots from distance from Symonds, Sandvik & Silvander as well as clearing a busy goal mouth scramble too. With the Bees a man short for Clipping the Wildcats applied pressure with Hoog hitting the post before Sandvik shot from distance and picked up his own rebound to tie the score.

Things then got a little feisty with Bullas receiving a boarding penalty after a big hit on Bendik, Sandvik also then received a match penalty for high sticking when he caught Lukas Smital. On the result powerplay the Bees edged in front when Rob Lamey found the net.©calyx_Pictures_swindon Wildcats v Bracknell 12-10-13_1911©calyx_Pictures_swindon Wildcats v Bracknell 12-10-13_0614

The Bees started the second period with the goal advantage and three and half minutes of powerplay but good work from the Wildcats killed the powerplay off. Again the teams exchanged opportunities with Thompson and Bronniman coming close for the Bees and Hoog looking threatening for the Wildcats and it was Hoog who turned the game in favour of Swindon when he scored with just under six minutes left in the second period.

His goal was the first of three in a little over a minute as the Wildcats took control of the game, Silvander and Smith picked up the other two quick goals leaving the Bees reeling. Coach Cox called a quick timeout to re-gather the Bees and it worked as Rob Lamey bagged his second of the night shortly after.©calyx_Pictures_swindon Wildcats v Bracknell 12-10-13_1231

Going into the final period one goal down there was all to play for and both sides certainly went for it, chances galore at each end of the ice. The Bees tied the scores up through Kamil Tvrdek with fifteen minutes to go. The Bees pushed looking for the winner but it was another goal from Hoog with ten minutes to go that gave the Wildcats the lead again. Despite the best efforts of the Bees and removing the netminder for the extra skater very late on the Bees couldn’t find an equaliser and the Wildcats held on for the tight, narrow win. Rob Lamey and Adam Harding collected the Man of the Match awards.
