Swindon Take Point From Overtime End

Last Sunday evening the Swindon Wildcats took to home ice for their first home fixture in the new EPL 2013/14 season. The two sides started with a quick tempo and before long the chances became goals.

The Jets drew first blood as Ales Padlek saw his efforts of a puck dumped toward goal bounce awkwardly and with it, beat a screened Stevie Lyle. The scores were quickly levelled however when a counter attack left Henrik Sandvik to turn past a defenseman and shoot across goal with a wristshot.

©calyx_Pictures_Swindon_Wildcats_8138A high intensity middle period would see neither side find the net and even after an agonising third period, the scores still stood at 1-1.

The meant for overtime and chance for both sides to take each other on 4 on 4. As both sides continued to match each other pound for pound, it took a quick break out to find the games’ winner. Despite the newly ©calyx_Pictures_Swindon_Wildcats_8197signed Juha Silvander nearly finding the net for Swindon at one end, it was the Jets who would chase down the ice and play some quick passing across net for Mindaugas Keiras to finally net the winning goal.

A well earned point for Swindon this night means only one dropped over the weekend’s games and a regular time winning streak to continue. The Wildcats will look to keep this going as they entertain the Telford Tigers this weekend at the normal time of 5:45pm on Saturday.

Final Score: Swindon Wildcats 1 – 2 (AOT) Slough Jets

Man of the Match: SWI – Symonds / SLO – Scott
