Swindon Supermarine went into the match against Thatcham on a run of five games without a win, but two from Josh Parsons (4 44) – his first since returning from Hungerford –  and goals from Craig Curtis (29), Joe Tustain (61) and the impressive Danny Hilder (85) enabled Supermarine to take the three points with ease.

Marine overran the Kingfishers and even goalkeeper Kent Kauppinen on an otherwise quiet afternoon saved a late Gareth Thomas penalty.

It only took Marine four minutes for Parsons to open his account back at the Webbswood, as he connected with Taylor’s swinging free kick to head them ahead.©calyx_Pictures_swindon_supermarine_v_thatcham_6283

Despite a Thatcham shot against Kent Kauppinen’s post Marine were soon back attack mode as Hilder and Ashley Edenborough went close, however the lead was soon doubled when Curtis swept up to lob the ball home from a Morse’s corner.supermarine_ladies_v_Thatcham

Parsons’ second came just before the interval as a tame free kick somehow dribbled under the body of visiting keeper Durrant in one of those TV blooper moments.

It was all Marine for the first part of the second half, but finally Thatcham’s  first opportunity of the half fell to Yashwa Romeo who headed over. The pace of Morse enabled the winger to somehow keep an over hit ball in and his cross was was met by substitute Joe Tustain to head over the keeper and into the net.

Marine were virtually untroubled until Gerrard took a tumble in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Thatcham’s Captain Gareth Thomas struck his spot kick well, but keeper Kent Kauppinen palmed the ball away.©calyx_Pictures_swindon_supermarine_v_thatcham_6660

On 85 minutes Danny Hilder cut inside off the right flank and drove home to complete the afternoons work, and the Kingfishers had to fly down the M4 empty handed.

Final score 5-0 Marine.
