SWINDON Speedway is deeply saddened to report the death of former rider Malcolm Holloway at the age of 55.

Malcolm first rode for the Robins in 1977 and appeared for the club until the end of the 1983 season before switching to Reading.

Affectionately nicknamed ‘Mad Wellie’ he latterly had a spell as Robins team manager and also turned out for the Swindon Sprockets at Conference League level into his mid-40s. His Farewell meeting was staged at Blunsdon in 2005.

After retiring from racing he promoted Reading for their final eighteen months before the closure of Smallmead.

Ashley Holloway has been in touch with current Robins co-boss Alun Rossiter to confirm that Malcolm, sadly, has passed away following a heart attack.

All at Swindon Speedway wish to send our sincere condolences to Malcolm’s family and friends at a very difficult time.
