The Swindon Wildcats suffered a minor setback  to their season, as the side fell victim to a 5-1 home defeat against the Peterborough Phantoms.

It would be the Phantoms who opened the night’s scoring and after being awarded an early powerplay, import Edgers Bebris would notch his side’s first with a one timed attempt.wildcats v peterborough_4838

Within eight minutes the visitors then doubled their lead, as Donastas Kumeliauskas would see his individual effort beat a screen and with it, netminder Stevie Lyle.

This left a final twenty minutes and although being behind, Swindon would eventualy find a reward for their efforts in the form of a shutout denying goal. Young forward Toms Rutkins would claim his first of the night, after a powerplay opportunity would end in the player firing a low shot through a screen for a 4-1 game.wildcats v peterborough_5267

A late powerplay goal for the travellers would see the final score draw to a 5-1 close, as Will Weldon’s redirect would see the puck find the back of the net.

Early strikes would prove to be the difference this night however the Swindon Wildcats will be looking to make amends tomorrow evening, when they travel to MK to take on an awaiting Lightning side.
